Community Friends of Women’s Studies Scholarship

CFWS awards competitive scholarships to women’s studies majors who have entered Purdue University Fort Wayne for the first time, who have newly declared women’s studies as their major, or who are in the early stages of their coursework in women’s studies. The scholarship amount is $200 for one semester with the possibility of renewal over the course of a student’s education up to $1600. Click here to learn how to apply.

Education Means Everything Grant

The Education Means Everything Grant (EME) is for an unforeseen financial situation that is beyond a student’s control which could prevent the student from attending classes. The grant amount ranges from $25 -$100. Click here to learn how to apply.

Linda C. Fox Merit Scholarship

The scholarship for academic excellence is named in honor of Dr. Linda Fox, former Director of the Women’s Studies Program. Scholarships are awarded to as many students as meet the Award Criteria Standard. The exact amount of the scholarship is determined by the CFWS Board of Directors but has historically ranged from $400 to $700 per eligible student. Click here to learn how to apply.

G. Carolyn Butler Meritorious Award

The G. Carolyn Butler Meritorious Award is given in recognition of academic excellence or academic striving in special circumstances to exemplary Women’s Studies students. The G. Carolyn Butler Meritorious Award  is named in honor of Carol Butler who was the co-founder of Community Friends of Women’s Studies and served for over 10 years as its President. Click here to learn how to apply.

Sharon Epperson Book Award

The Sharon Epperson Book Award is offered to students enrolled in the Women’s Studies Program who are in financial need of textbooks used in Women’s Studies classes.  It provides for up to $100 in book support. Click here to learn how to apply.

Joan Daley Uebelhoer Outstanding Women’s Studies Major Award

Honors the student who represents the very best of Women’s Studies, including excellence in scholarship, a commitment to social justice, and activism on behalf of women. Specific award amounts are determined by CFWS.  Typical award range is $250-$500. Click here to learn how to apply.

Women’s Studies Outstanding Research Essay Prize

Best research paper written by a student in a Women’s Studies course. Administered through the Director of Women’s Studies. Prize award is $100. Click here to learn how to apply.
